11/6 NBA Rumors: Josh Smith in Several Trade Rumors

November 6th 2010 10:41
Former first round pick James Johnson of the Chicago Bulls might be traded to the Charlotte Bobcats. The forward would be a welcome depth addition, but overall he is a a poor player. His youth does make him an interesting project player for the Cats. This really is one of those rumors for big NBA fans. There is a Bulls rumor that was deflated. They will not sign point guard Patrick Beverley for depth.

Isiah Thomas- in his skewed thinking- believes that he could really help the Knicks win a championship. The former coach- who failed miserably- says that he could have brought LeBron to New York and can do it again when LBJ hits the market in 2014. He wants Donnie Walsh's job, and he even went as far to say that he is one of the elite GM minds in the league. Isiah also claimed that his draft evaluation is among the best out there. My verdict is that Isiah Thomas is full of crap- as usual- and hiring him would be an enormous mistake. Of course, he will never get the job.

29 year old shooting guard Dahntay Jones of the Indiana Pacers was put on the trade block. Jones makes 2.5 million, and I have no idea why. Jones is a very poor player, and nobody will make a trade for him. I would be surprised if he switched jerseys. The Pacers were actually happy when they acquired him in a trade in the offseason from the Nuggets. However, he is a horrible shooter and won't get playing time even on the Pacers because he is so bad. Indiana also would like to make room on the roster for Magnum Rolle.

The Atlanta Hawks signed big contract extensions to Joe Johnson- offseason- and Al Horford at the beginning of the year. The Horford extension was too much, however the Johnson one was justified. Due to this- surprise, surprise- the Hawks find themselves in financial trouble. Star Josh Smith is the man they are looking to deal, and the Pistons are interested in acquiring Smith.

However, the Detroit Pistons are in the midst of a sale so no deal can be made until the team is sold. Detroit would trade Rip Hamilton for Josh Smith. That doesn't seem like a good deal for Atlanta. The Pistons are also interested in Clippers star center Chris Kaman. The Pistons love Tayshaun Prince, especially due to the expiring contract, and would deal him for Kaman. This deal looks like another favorable offer for the Pistons, and I would be very surprised if a Prince-Kaman swap happened. However, keep an eye on Josh Smith. This will be a big trade saga.

The Nuggs are one of the many teams in the NBA impressed by Nicolas Batum. However, the Trail Blazers love the versatility that Batum presents to their club. The Blazers also said that they will not trade Batum unless it involved acquiring Melo. Portland has made it known that they want a high level player, especially Carmelo Anthony. The Portland Trail Blazers also sent an offer for Chris Paul. Keep your eyes on this at the trade deadline. Nicolas Batum is a very strategic chess piece heading into the trade deadline. Batum could swing a deal for Portland.
