3/24 Sports Review: Another NCAA Injuiry

March 24th 2010 05:30
Michigan State is not the only team suffering from a star guard injury. Darryl Bryant broke his right foot during practice. West Virginia will be without him for the rest of the tournament. They can still be Washington. Can they?

I listened to an old Colin Cowherd radio podcast. He said that in the Washington versus Marquette game there were no NBA players. I would like to remind him that there is a certain Quincy Pondexter and Isaiah Thomas that play for Washington. Marquette have the one and only Lazar Hayward. Think again Cowherd. Although, I do enjoy his podcasts. He just speaks on impulse at times.

The NFL has finally and officially changed the overtime rules. There will still be a coin toss, the first team to score a touchdown still wins, but if you make a field goal; then the other team has one more drive to score. If the second team scores a touchdown they win, if they score a field goal the other team has another chance because it would be tied. This rule is only good for the playoffs.

The New Orleans Saints will not match Mike Bell's RFA offer sheet. Instead, it looks like the Eagles will get him to backup LeSean McCoy. Hopefully McCoy will start, otherwise I will rant about the Eagles. I mean, they physically told McCoy that he would be "The Guy" this year.

Josh McDaniels has finally made it known that Kyle Orton is the starter and Brady Quinn is the backup. Punter Josh Bidwell went to the Washington Redskins. He missed all of last year with an injury, but when healthy he is one of the best punters out there.

Jim Edmonds still has game. In a spring training game for the Brewers, he drove in five runs and hit a homer. By the way, Ryan Howard smacked two homers and Dustin Pedroia strained his wrist.

Jason Kidd helped his team win on his 37th birthday. It took a little longer for Zyrdunas Ilgauskas to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was still pondering the offers GM Danny Ferry sen, but he resigned in the afternoon to probably spend the rest of his career with the only team he has played for in his lifet. Gilbert Arenas could get jail time. It is alleged that he pressured teammate Javaris Crittenton to cover up the gun incident.

George Karl, coach of the Nuggets, could be out until the playoffs. He was recently treated for blood clots. I hope Mr. Karl is alright. The Charlotte Bobcats won their franchise record 36th game of the season. By the way, the New York Knicks and Danilo Gallinari rallied to upset the Denver Nuggets.

A rumor is that the Capitals team are getting PEDs. I don't care. Do you care about PEDs anymore? The Coyotes lost their nine game winning streak with a 2-0 shutout loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. Martin Brodeur has now totaled eight 40-win seasons. Elliot once again got a shutout for the Senators in their 2-0 win over the Flyers. Apology, last time I said the goalkeeper had a shootout goal in yesterday's post. Big mistake.

The Boston Bruins stopped the onward playoff hopes of the Atlanta Trashers, I mean Thrashers. The Bruins blew their doors out 4-0, and Boston still holds the eighth and final playoff spot in the East. However, the Flames won and are just two points away from Boston. The San Jose Sharks beat the Minnesota Wild 4-1 to finally break their six game losing streak.

Today's MDA is tough. Even though it was only spring training, Ryan Howard and Jim Edmonds did well. Danilo Gallinari's upset rally was big, and Jason Kidd did a great job in winning on his birthday with 26 points, 12 assists, and 6 rebounds. Drew Gooden had 20 boards and also had 26 points. Gerald Wallace led the team to a franchise record total in wins with 17 points and 19 rebounds. The basketball list can go on and on.

Martin Brodeur wins it all though. I mean, eight is impossible for any other goalie to break. The former record was three. Let's bring some hockey on the website.
Martin Brodeur
8X40 Huge Record and 1st Hockey MDA
