3/26 Sports Review: Butler Up, Cuse Down

March 26th 2010 05:20
Alright, alright, I got to start of with the upset of last night. Number one seed Syracuse, widely known as the third best team going into the tournament, was upset by Butler 63-59. The fact that it was a low scoring game really hurt the Orange. Gordon Hayward scored 17 for the Butler. Hayward is widely known as one of the most underrated players in the country and will be a first round pick once he heads to the NBA Draft. Remember though, Syracuse played that game without their star inside presence at center.

The rest of the games last night were not upsets, but I want every ready to know that Butler is by no means a Cinderella team. Butler is a great basketball team that is very underrated. I never got and will still never get why they were a five seed. They have played like a three seed for a lot of games this year, and it is another mess up this year by the seeding committee.

The Philadelphia Eagles want a top 42 pick for quarterback Donovan McNabb. I hope nobody complains because trading in sports is pure capitalism. You can ask for any price you want. If nobody pays it, then that's fine. However, nobody should complain about the price tag on McNabb. Don't like it, don't trade for him.

Joe Girardi has made his decision for the New York Yankees' number five starter. Thankfully for Yankee fans like me, it is not Joba Chamberlin. Instead, it is the one I said would win the starting job. Phil Hughes. Last year, Hughes started some games in replacement of Chien-Ming Wang. Hughes did an excellent job, including a masterpiece against the Texas Rangers.

The Milwaukee Brewers' crowded outfield just got more crowded. They liked the five RBI performance from Jim Edmonds, so they purchased his contract. Looks like the odd man out could be Corey Hart. Derek Jeter has just said that he would like to own his own sports franchise. I think Jeter would make a great owner. His policies and integrity would make his franchise a very good and popular one.

According to the popular baseball simulator AccuScore, Phil Hughes starting over Joba Chamberlin improves the team by 2.4 games. AccuScore says they will win 96.6 games. Great move Girardi. According to AccuScore, the Yankees have the highest playoff percentage which is an enormous 90 percent.

Dwayne Wade did an excellent job, helping his Heat give the Bulls no chance in a 103-74 blowout. Jermaine O'Neal finally had a big game with his 24 points. The Houston Rockets have to feel embarrassed. The Clippers snapped their 11 game losing streak on the road in their 99-93 win. Craig Smith had a surprising 25 points and 10 rebounds, and on the losing side Trevor Ariza had 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists.

I am cutting out the hockey section, just because it seems a little boring nowadays. Don't worry though, hockey players still can get the MDA.

The Xavier and Kansas State rivalry keeps on getting more heated. Kansas State won in the double overtime game 101-96. Jacob Pullen hit a pair of clutch threes and finished up with 28 points. It was a classic game, and nobody came up bigger than Pullen.
