5/11: Random Musings on Sports

May 11th 2010 16:25
There was a friend of mine that told me he would trade David Dejesus for Neftali Feliz. Dejesus is a useful outfielder who hit 9 triples last year. He always has well-balanced stats. Feliz is a young-eccentric closer who has 9 saves and a .96 WHIP. Granted, this friend is last-place in our league, but his deal seems interesting. At this point, he must take risks. He has enough outfielders, but not enough relief pitching. Do the deal man!

I would like to shout out to my Boston friend Thomas Fahlbusch. I think I spelled his name wrong, but he is still a good friend of the blog here. He is a big Patriots fan, so now I am going to rant on the Pats. Their draft was great only because of mid-round selections. However, their first round was a complete dud.

You just don't draft Devin McCourty over Kyle Wilson. All McCourty has is speed and special teams capabilities. Seriously, you can draft a top-notch special teams player in the 7th round and watch him blossom. Look at what the Panthers did with Captain Munnerlyn. Cap has also become a pretty nice backup corner.

You also can never pass up on the best corner in the draft. Wilson is a nice steal at the end of the first round. He fell to a division rival. In fact, Wilson fell to the Jets, the Patriots' most hated rivals besides the Colts. Wilson is the best man-to-man corner prospect we've seen in a nice bit of time. Now the Jets have stacked corners with Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie, and now Kyle Wilson.

I hate unwritten rules. There are always debates nowadays that argue about various unwritten rules. I have seen bloggers jump on it and start talking about Longoria bunting, or the stupid A-Rod and Braden argument. It is said. Just shut your mouths people and move on! Watch Brandon Morrow walk five people in an inning. Watch the Angels blow a lead and still beat the Rays in the 11th. Watch baseball, don't watch the feuds from little children like Dallas Braden.

Just because somebody is doing good for eleven days doesn't mean that you can just say they are Mr.November or Mr.May. I mean, yeah they're doing well but there is no "Sir" for each month. Those nicknames are getting old and they are so cliche.

I am pretty much sick of the Josh Beckett jabbing. Even though I am a die hard Yankee; this garbage is just too much. People start saying he is "Not a man to be feared anymore" just because he is having another slow start. People! These pitchers find their grooves later on in the year! He is having back problems right now. I don't want to say anything to jinx him. He plays for my Fantasy Baseball team right now. I don't need another injury like the ones that happened to Miguel Montero and Jacoby Ellsbury.

Ken Griffey Jr. is about to be released by the Seattle Mariners. Dumb move, keep him for the locker room influence and ceremonial stuff. These Mariners really dare to cut two outfielders considering their offense already sucks enough. See what I told you readers. The Angels are better than the M's. Now you finally see the light. Jump off the ESPN bandwagon please.

Jair Jurrjens is extending his DL stay. Yeah, yeah, yeah on with the talking. If you don't be quiet I'm gonna beat ya in the head with a jackhammer. Jurrjens is not fine, and everyone knows he is staying there for a while.

The San Francisco 49ers locked up Patrick Willis. Now they want to ink up their primary passing threat, tight end Vernon Davis. Good work Niners.Oshiomogho Atogwe is one of the better and underrated safeties in the game. Atogwe is not going to sign a deal with the St.Louis Rams. I guess he is sick of losing and wants to take his talents to a better club.

Dirk Nowitzki is still in contract negotiation talks with the Dallas Mavericks. Expect the team's best player and All-Time leading scorer to be back next year. He is too much of an icon to lose. It is extremely rare to find a seven foot guy that can drain threes like Dirk. He averaged 25 points and 8 rebounds last year.

Kevin McHale was an All-Time legend, but he is a horrible coach. He used to coach the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves, but he says he now wants a job with the Chicago Bulls. The funny thing is, McHale played for the Celtics against the Bulls when Bulls' owner John Paxson was on Chicago. Vince Carter says that his former coach in New Jersey- Lawrence Frank- should get the job. I would listen to Vinsanity Bulls. Frank is a tremendous coach.
Neftali Feliz
9 Saves This Year and 0.96 WHIP

Hey great musings. Gotta love Griffey falling asleep in the clubhouse. Guess we have to give the guy a break though, he's like 83. Keep up the fun man!

Thanks for the compliment man. I love it when others come in and comment. Yeah, I wish Griffey didn't do that though. He is one of my favorites. Well, all senior citizens are known for taking naps.

No problem! Griffey must have taken his No-Doz last night cause he came in off the bench to hit the game winning single in the Mariners win!
