6/21 NFL Talk

June 21st 2010 15:09
The New Orleans Saints continue their busy offseason by trading star offensive tackle Jammal Brown to the Washington Redskins. Brown is a two time pro bowler who missed all of last season with a sports hernia and hip injury.

He skipped voluntary workouts because he was mad at his new tender. Jammal was also angry that he would have to compete with rising star Jerome Bushrod for his old job.

The Saints will receive a selection in either the third or fourth round in next year's draft. That all depends on which pick is dealt to the Eagles from the McNabb trade. The Redskins will also get a pick in the lower rounds for next year's draft, but that pick will be determined later. If Brown meets certain objectives, the Saints will get a sixth rounder in 2012.

I think that Brown is a C , a third or fourth rounder is a C-, the sixth rounder is an F-, and the late round pick is an F. Overall, the Redskins got a better deal. We know that Brown is a pretty good right tackle, whilst lower round draft picks usually turn into practice squad guys. At least New Orleans have Bushrod.

Pass rushing specialist Darwin Walker could make a comeback to the NFL. The defensive tackle has played in 9 seasons, his last being in 2008 with the Carolina Panthers. He is now 33.

Antrel Rolle is new to the New York Giants. Everybody is new to the New Meadowlands and its new turf. Dominik Hixon tore his anterior cruciate ligament- pretty horrible huh- on the slippery new turf. Rolle is now "scared" of the new turf, and he also said that Hixon did not make any sudden movements.

General Manager Jerry Reese is lying by saying that the turf had nothing to do with the injury. You are such a loser Reese, grow up. Stop trying to save your own butt by lying about injuries inflicted on your own players.

Some of the rest of the news is simple: we all hate Marvin Harrison and hopefully they find him guilty in that shooting, Chris Johnson is finally going to holdout as he should, O.J. Atogwe is visiting the Seahawks now- we love division rivals, and Albert Haynesworth is still demanding a trade because he can't read a contract. Fat Albert was too busy getting giddy over all the money to realize that everything after the first year monopoly splurge was a cheap contract. As my dad says, "You just got duped!"

The NFLPA may file collusion charges against he league. The following quote is from NFLPA President DeMaurice Smith.

"Exhibit A very well could be the widespread use of letters by teams informing restricted free agents that their tender offers will be cut as of midnight on June 15," the site says. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement doesn't require teams to do this and ProFootballTalk notes that the letters from different teams have some similarities.

The Seattle Seahawks want to get another running back. This time it will be a star. Marshawn Lynch may finally get out of Buffalo and leave the Bills to deal with the mess that is otherwise known as Fred Jackson. Lynch will probably be dealt for a fourth rounder, which is a good deal for Seattle.

Trust me, Julius Jones is not a starter in this league. I also don't think Leon Washington is a guy you want carrying the ball all the time. He is like a Reggie Bush type player. Justin Forsett is a running back with good potential that is Marshawn's good friend.

The Cincinnati Bengals own the second best cornerback tandem in the league; Leon Hall and Jonathan Joseph. They will intelligently try and ink Joseph to a long term deal.
