7/25 NFL News: Bulluck Signs and Linebacker Rankings

July 25th 2010 15:18
As the headline states, the New York Giants filled the middle linebacker void left by Antonio Pierce with a different veteran; Keith Bulluck. It is a low risk, cheap one year deal worth 2.5 million. The star is just coming off a serious injury. He had 108 tackles with 3 picks last year, while being the leader of the Titans defense. Nicely done New York G's!

On to the serious side, Bill Cowher's wife passed away at the age of 54. Kaye Cowher died of skin cancer in her home city of Raleigh, North Carolina.

“Kaye was such a loving and compassionate person and she was the foundation of our family,” Bill Cowher said in a statement Saturday. “Kaye was always at my side throughout my career as a player, coach, NFL analyst and, most importantly, as a parent to our three daughters. Kaye was the rock that we could all lean on in the tough times. She was looked up to by so many people and I cannot say enough about what Kaye meant to our family.”

Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks have denied any interest in free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens. Let me tell you something, I wouldn't blame them. It would stink for a first year coach to have to deal with T.O. Just look at what happened to Wade Phillips.

I want to do a little linebacker ranking of my own after O.J.'s. Compare whose you like more.

1. Patrick Willis
2. Elvis Dumervil
3. Jon Beason
4. DeMarcus Ware

Comment by O.J. Lewis

C'mon now Joe, Elvis at second? Suggs over Ray Lewis? I think you're leaning way too far for the younger players and especially for the blitzers. This is a linebackers list, not a blitzers list, this should rate the best linebackers, c'mon. I believe Beason's rated way too high, Patrick Willis can be argued for to be the best over Ray, but Ray should never go below 2nd.
