Sportgreat's NFL Player of the Week-Antonio Bryant.
It was second down and two yards to go for a first down. There was 2:36 left in the game, and the Buccaneers were trailing the Carolina Panthers by fourteen points. Jeff Garcia dropped back to pass, but he was forced out of the pocket. It appeared that he was going to run for the first down, but just prior to passing the line of scrimmage, he threw a pass to a wide open Antonio Bryant in the end zone. But the ball was poorly thrown. That did not matter to Sportgreats player of the week, however, he adjusted his feet and lunged to his left to make a spectacular one handed catch to bring the Buccaneers to within eight points with just over two minutes to go in the game. Unfortunately for the Buccaneers, their extra point was blocked, and they failed in their attempt at an onside kick, going on to lose to the Panthers 38-23. Antonio Bryant finished the game with an incredible 200 yards receiving on 9 catches. Bryant is now tenth in the league in receiving yards, not bad for a player who was out of the league last year. Bryant is in his sixth NFL season. He has 316 career receptions for 4773 yards and 24 touchdowns. He went to college at Pittsburgh. He is 6'1", and he weighs 205lbs. He was originally drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, but he was traded to the Cleveland Browns after he threw a towel in Bill Parcell's face. He went on to play for the San Francisco 49ers, but he was out of football until he signed with the Buccaneers for the 2008 football season.
