The D'Backs offense should be great. Adam LaRoche provides pop, and the other new infield acquisition is great as well. Kelly Johnson provides patience, speed, and a good bat. Stephen Drew is good as always, and Mark Reynolds is a great 3B. Miguel Montero is an emerging superstar at catcher.
Conor Jackson, Chris Young, and Justin Upton make up one of the best outfields. Upton is amazing, but Young needs to step up like he did in 2007. The rotation is questionable behind stars Danny Haren, Brandon Webb, and Edwin Jackson. Although, all three of them are notorious for starting quick and finishing slow. This is especially in Haren and Jackson's cases. It also doesn't help that ace Brandon Webb was injured last year.
Ian Kennedy was acquired in the big Granderson deal. Will he be enough to help replace the loss of stud Max Scherzer? I don't think Kennedy has much game in him, being a huge Yankee fan and watching him struggle. However, he will have less scrutiny as a Snake than a Pinstriper. The fifth spot of the rotation has nobody at least mediocre in the running.
Chad Qualls will once again do a great job of closing out games. Bobby Howry is a set up man that can be counted on, but Aaron Heilman gives up games at times. He is very inconsistent. The rest of the bullpen is inconsistent.
There are too many question marks in the pen. The Diamondbacks won't be bad, but they won't win the division.
