Celtics defeat Hawks to go 24-2

December 19th 2008 06:12
Joe Johnson missed a free throw with 2.7 seconds remaining that would have tied the game at 86, and Ray Allen sank two free throws after being fouled with .7 remaining to ice the Celtics sixteenth straight victory. They improved their record to 24-2. All Celtic starters with the exception of Kendrick Perkins scored in double figures, but Perkins was in double figures in rebounds with ten. The World Champion Celtics have the best record in the NBA. The Atlanta Hawks dropped to 15-10, and they are in second place in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference, holding the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. Mike Bibby led the Hawks with twenty points and Al Horford led the Hawks in rebounds with eleven.
