Chargers Cream the Raiders 34-7
December 5th 2008 04:57
Second Year Quarterback Jemarcus Russell threw two interceptions and fumbled to aid the Chargers in their victory over the Raiders 34-7. In addition to his three turnovers, Russell added injury to insult as he sprained his ankle after getting hit on the return of his second interception. He did not play in the second half. X-Rays on the ankle were negative. The Raiders were only able to gain 163 yards total offense, and their only touchdown came on a 92 yard kickoff return with twenty three seconds remaining in the half. The Chargers, who amazingly enough are still in playoff contention, improved to 5-8, two and a half games behind the Division-Leading Denver Broncos, who are 7-5 and play Kansas City this week. The Chargers had 372 yards total offense. Philip Rivers was only 10/22 for 214 yards, but he threw for three touchdowns, two to Darren Sproles and one to Vincent Jackson. Ladainian Tomlinson had a respectable game, gaining ninety one yards on twenty five carries, but he still does not look like his old self. The Raiders dropped to 3-10, and their franchise is in major need of an overhaul.
