"Wings Like Eagles"
June 5th 2009 08:14
"but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
Isaiah 40:31
This verse was a key point in the movie "Chariots of Fire" and even if you are not a religious person you can find the inspiration in this verse, at least when it comes to the movie. I know it is an older film but completely worth it if you have not seen it. For those who have I'm sure you can agree that determination and commitment shown by both Eric and Abrahams is something to be admired. However, in particular the statment by Eric Liddell about being able to feel God's pleasure when he runs is something that has stuck with me in life.
I believe that we are all given something special in this world that we are able to do well, and that we love to do. It is wrong for us not to do that something. Whether it be dance, write, speak, or finish jigsaw puzzles. If God gave it to you, use it. It would have been wrong for him not to run, and he knew it. It is a special thing to be able to do something the way it is supposed to be done and be able to bask in the glory of it as well.
So next time you are doing that thing that you know you are blessed with take a moment and realize that you are doing exactly what God would have you do and thank him for the ability to do.
