Derrick Ward of the New York Giants is Sportgreat's Player of the Week for Week 16. He had 215 yards on 15 carries for an incredible 14.3 yards per carry to help his team, the New York Giants, clinch the best record in the NFC, ensuring that the road to the Super Bowl will run through New York, or rather New Jersey. The New York Giants had lost their previous two games, and they seemed to be going down the path of defeat again, but the Giants running game, led by Ward helped them pull out the victory. The Giants utilize three backs in their offense, Ward, Brandon Jacobs, and Ahmad Bradshaw. All of them are averaging over five yards per carry for the season, and the Giants are leading the league in rushing, averaging 158.9 yards per game. Ward has 948 yards on 167 carries for a 5.7 yard average per carry. Derrick is in his 4th year out of Ottawa(Kansas). He wears the number 34 for the New York Giants, and he is Sportgreat's Player of the Week.
