Brett Favre led the Jets down the field in overtime and J. Feeley sneaked a 34 yd field goal just inside the left upright to give the Jets a 34-31 win after the Patriots had tied the score with one second remaining on a pass from Matt Cassel to Randy Moss. The game was a story of two halves, with the Jets winning the 1st half and the Patriots dominating the second one. The Jets started the scoring, driving the ball 62 yards on 10 plays with Favre hitting Leon Washington on a 7yd pass for the score. The teams alternated kicking field goals until Leon Washington ran a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown to give the Jets a 17-6 lead. The Jets seemed to take a commanding lead on their next drive when Brett Favre hit Jerricho Cotchery for a 15 yard touchdown pass to give the team a 24-6 lead. The Patriots gained the momentum going into half as Matt Cassel hit Jabar Gaffney with a 19 yard pass with 20 seconds left in the half to make the score 24-13. The Patriots scored the first 11 points of the 2nd half on a touchdown, two point conversion, and a field goal to tie the score. The Patriots had the momentum, but Brett Favre had the ball; and he answered by driving the ball down the field, and the Jets took a 31-24 lead on a one yard run by Thomas Jones. The Jets stopped the Patriots on the ensuing drive, and the Patriots had to punt, but the Jets could not run out the clock. The Patriots got the ball and Randy Moss and Matt Cassel seemed to pull off a miracle, but Favre would not have it. He had a miracle of his own. It should be noted that Matt Cassel had a monster game, going 30/51 for 400 yds and 3 touchdowns. J. Mayo, a rookie linebacker for the Patriots, also had a great game on defense getting 16 tackles and 4 assists.
