SportGreat NFL Player of the Week
SportGreat's player of the week for Week 12 of NFL Season is Matt Cassel, who led the Patriots to a 48-28 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Matt Cassel was 30/43 for 415 yards, 3 touchdowns and one interception. Matt Cassel did something that even the great Tom Brady has not accomplished, which is to have back to back four hundred yard passing games. Cassel lends credence to the theory of getting a quarterback with raw skills and developing him through good coaching. The Patriots have done this with two consecutive quarterbacks, with Tom Brady, of course, being the first when he took over for the injured Drew Bledsoe in 2001. Perhaps General Managers will take notice of players like Cassel, Brady, and Tony Romo and quit betting the franchise on quarterbacks who did well in college. Honorable mentions for player of the week go to Cassel's teammate, Randy Moss, who caught all three of Cassel's three touchdown passes and gained 125 yards on 8 receptions. Also, Terrell Owens broke out of a slump by catching 7 passes for 213 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys 35-22 victory over the 49ers.
