MLB Grades: Features Tulo

July 24th 2010 13:45
The post where I graded 14 NFL players received so much views that I decided to do more grading. Check that post here Really Long Link

For the MLB, it is a little different. I use contact, defense, speed, power, patience, intangibles, youth, opportunity, stuff, strikeout ability, control, durability, and a few other things. It is difficult to reach the grade of B. Whenever I say "A plus" it always turns out to post as just an "A". For some reason the sign for plus is taken out. Therefore, I must actually write out "plus".

Ervin Santana SP LAA C plus : I think that he is a top 3 starter on most rotations. He is durable and has the ability to strikeout batters. Best of all, he hasn't tapped into his potential yet. Unfortunately, his health is questionable.

Troy Tulowitzki SS COL A plus : Some people would be skeptic at such a high grade. There is no doubt that his skills make him a top 5 shortstop and top 50 player. His added youth makes him an untouchable talent.

Tyler Clippard RP WAS D: I know people will disagree with me, but Tyler Clippard is a set-up man at best. In fact, he only has a good role in the league because he plays for such a bad team. I saw him with the Yankees and he hasn't changed my mind about his skills.

Vladimir Guerrero OF TEX C: Who knows when he will retire? Sure he's mashing this year and I love it- Vlad fan- but he is so old and is a liability in the outfield nowadays.

Jeff Keppinger 2B, SS, 3B HOU F: The only plus about him is that he can play three tough infield positions. The downside is almost everything. Keppinger is horrible.

Roy Halladay SP PHI A: When you have as durable and great of a pitcher as Halladay, age is not a factor. He is as shut down as any pitcher in baseball. I don't need to tell you that. Everyone knows.

Andrew McCutchen OF PIT A plus : His ability to produce runs, youth, and power-speed mix make him another untouchable talent. The Pirates are really lucky to have him. If he played for even an average team like the Tigers, he would be one of the top 7 outfielders. He already is a top 50 player in just his second year.

Raul Ibanez OF PHI C-: It is low, but he is old and he really is declining badly. I was tempted to throw him into the "D" range, but I had mercy on his power.
