Musings on Headlines

February 12th 2010 05:43
Well, I had a rant coming on about the MLBPA, but I decided it was not their fault. I will spare them for a moment. The human mind is an interesting contraption. We ponder on to different topics randomly, which is why I decided to make this thread.
For those of you that have not been informed, there may be no football in the near future. An NFL lockout has a very strong chance of happening. This is awful news for all of us football diehards. Lets hope that Roger Goodell and DeMaurice Smith can work something out.
Anyways, Duke beats UNC. This matchup has lost its everlasting charisma that it used to have. That whole Coach K and Roy Williams rivalry is now gone. Duke is still a powerhouse, but UNC is shredded. Deon Thompson has to carry a boatload of inexperienced players. They miss Ty Lawson, Tyler Hansborough, Wayne Ellington, and Danny Green more and more each day.

I actually learned that one of my favorite sports guys, Jeremy Green, is Denny Green's son. Now I am a tad slow on this stuff, but Denny Green was a good coach. He did a great job with the 90s Vikings. That whole Carter-Moss-Culpepper thing was really something. Speaking of Football Today guys, Pod Vader said that if Cris Carter is not in the Hall of Fame; the Football Hall of Fame should be blown up. That is very, very true. It was bad luck this year that Jerry Rice was in the balloting, because the voters usually like to pick one guy at each position.
The Giants released Antonio Pierce. He did anchor their defense for the past five years, but when you get in trouble with the law you have to be a prolific player to not get released. It seems like teams finally care about behavioral issues. Either that, or they just don't want the bad rep. Probably the latter.
LeBron James keeps tearing up the league, and there is no doubt in my mind that he is the best basketball player in the game right now. At the moment, I would take LeBron over Kobe. This year's MVP is still undecided with me. I don't really want to pick LeBron, but I will probably end up taking him. You never know who gets hot down the stretch. Grogan Dragic anyone?

That ends this post, check for another one later on today, possibly.
