My Top 10 Sports Movies
What's up everyone? Hope you are all well. As you may have read in my opening post I'm going to be writing about a lot of the sports movies out there and hope to give you a little of my opinion and hopefully motivate some people. To start out I wanted to give you my top 10 sport movies of all time, with a little of why I feel that way thrown in there. My next postings will deal with each of these movies in more depth.
Once again these are my top 10. I understand that many of you may have a different opinioin on the subject and feel free to let me know about it. So here goes. . . .
10. Coach Carter. This one really gets to me. Leaves me torn between finishing the movie or going to play some ball. Not to mention that it stands for something more then basketball. It's about commitment, discipline, and heart. And Spanish from "Old School" pushes me to the brink of tears every time he gives that speech.
9. American Flyers. It's from the '80's and not too many people have seen it, but I can't turn away. The racing scenes are great and the brotherly rivalry is something that a lot of families can relate to. My favorite part is when he is on the treadmill.
8. Cariots of Fire. If you have ever seen the movie then it is garanteed that the song played during the last racing scene is in your head forever. What comes to my mind when I think of this movie is passion. If only we could live our lives with the same passion that he ran with.
7. For Love of the Game. One of the many sport movies Kevin Costner has made and he does them well. For any true baseball fan this is a must see because it deals with something that does not come around too often in the sport but when it does, it is sacred. It does have a romantic theme to it but that is a plus because you can watch it with your significant other and not be bored.
6. Rudy. You can't go wrong by watching this one on a cold Saturday afternoon in November. Makes you feel as if anything is possible if you work hard enough.
5. Bull Durham. How many one liners have come out of this movie? This one is like a right of passage for teenage boys playing baseball everywhere. I know it is bit R-rated but worth it. "You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball."
4. Remember the Titans. If this movie can't bring a team together then nothing can. It breaks down all the walls that divided a country through a game. That is what is so beautiful about sports in general. Plus the soundtrack is great!!
3. Hoosiers. Lets here it for the underdog. If you can't get behind this small school from Indiana then there is something wrong with you. It shows you what can be done by a small group with a strong leader and a commitment to each other.
2. Field of Dreams. Not so much action in this one but if you pay attention to the details it one of those movies that make the little hairs stand up. Gives you hope that no matter how bad things are or will get there is hope for something better. Whether it is in this world or one that is just through the corn.
1. Rocky. Sorry to all that were hoping for something better, but Sly got it right with this one. In my book there is no more motivational movie. Whenever I'm feeling really beat down I think about how Rocky got up in the 14th round when everyone was telling him to stay down. WOW! I could run through a wall after watching that scene.
