On the Stanley Cup post, I was about to merge the NBA with the NHL; but I decided not to. The introduction did come out a little weird. So, a little rematch fun for Kobe this year.
NBA
Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers
Rajon Rondo is going to be guarded by Kobe, Ray Allen by Derek Fisher, Ron Artest and Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Pau Gasol, and Andrew Bynum on Kendrick Perkins. This is going to be a great matchup.
The C's have a tough inside game that features Sheed, Perk, KG, and Big Baby. Bynum doesn't look healthy at all, but Gasol is really, really dangerous. I also think Lamar Odom will cause them problems. Odom is a versatile player that can shoot a jumper. He can extend the width of the floor, which will really open things up for Kobe.
The best thing the Celts can do defensively is to force Artest into taking shots. They also need to contest Kobe. KB24 will score his 25, but you need to make him throw up a lot of shots in order to do it. If Kobe has the space to drive and to become a distributor, then the Celtics could find themselves on an early exit.
There are some nice sparkplugs on the bench that the Celtics have. Nate Robinson showed his use when he ripped through the Magic on a Goran Dragic tear. Explosive players like Rondo are guys that the Lakers have trouble guarding.
Overall, I like the Celtic's inside play. With Bynum not healthy, I think the C's can stretch this out. However, I also like Kobe's intangibles and hunger to win. I think the Lakers win in 7. I love Game 7's.
