Former first round pick James Johnson of the Chicago Bulls might be traded to the Charlotte Bobcats. The forward would be a welcome depth addition, but overall he is a a poor player. His youth does make him an interesting project player for the Cats. This really is one of those rumors for big NBA fans. There is a Bulls rumor that was deflated. They will not sign point guard Patrick Beverley for depth.

Isiah Thomas- in his skewed thinking- believes that he could really help the Knicks win a championship. The former coach- who failed miserably- says that he could have brought LeBron to New York and can do it again when LBJ hits the market in 2014. He wants Donnie Walsh's job, and he even went as far to say that he is one of the elite GM minds in the league. Isiah also claimed that his draft evaluation is among the best out there. My verdict is that Isiah Thomas is full of crap- as usual- and hiring him would be an enormous mistake. Of course, he will never get the job.

29 year old shooting guard Dahntay Jones of the Indiana Pacers was put on the trade block. Jones makes 2.5 million, and I have no idea why. Jones is a very poor player, and nobody will make a trade for him. I would be surprised if he switched jerseys. The Pacers were actually happy when they acquired him in a trade in the offseason from the Nuggets. However, he is a horrible shooter and won't get playing time even on the Pacers because he is so bad. Indiana also would like to make room on the roster for Magnum Rolle.

The Atlanta Hawks signed big contract extensions to Joe Johnson- offseason- and Al Horford at the beginning of the year. The Horford extension was too much, however the Johnson one was justified. Due to this- surprise, surprise- the Hawks find themselves in financial trouble. Star Josh Smith is the man they are looking to deal, and the Pistons are interested in acquiring Smith.

However, the Detroit Pistons are in the midst of a sale so no deal can be made until the team is sold. Detroit would trade Rip Hamilton for Josh Smith. That doesn't seem like a good deal for Atlanta. The Pistons are also interested in Clippers star center Chris Kaman. The Pistons love Tayshaun Prince, especially due to the expiring contract, and would deal him for Kaman. This deal looks like another favorable offer for the Pistons, and I would be very surprised if a Prince-Kaman swap happened. However, keep an eye on Josh Smith. This will be a big trade saga.

The Nuggs are one of the many teams in the NBA impressed by Nicolas Batum. However, the Trail Blazers love the versatility that Batum presents to their club. The Blazers also said that they will not trade Batum unless it involved acquiring Melo. Portland has made it known that they want a high level player, especially Carmelo Anthony. The Portland Trail Blazers also sent an offer for Chris Paul. Keep your eyes on this at the trade deadline. Nicolas Batum is a very strategic chess piece heading into the trade deadline. Batum could swing a deal for Portland.

Shocking: Oberto Retires

November 5th 2010 12:19
Due to a heart condition that caused heart palpitations, Fabricio Oberto retired after six years of pro basketball. He felt that it wasn't worth a serious injury, and I tip my cap off to the 2007 NBA champion and 2004 Gold Medalist for putting family and health first. Oberto won the championship with the Spurs and the gold medal in basketball at the Athens Olympics with Argentina.

Oberto was born in Las Varillas, Argentina and retired at the age of 35. It was a surprise announcement- after all he was signed one day before the start of the 2010 campaign by the Blazers. However, 35 is the usual retirement age for an NBA player. Oberto was signed because of injuries to centers Joel Pryzbilla and Greg Oden. Both of them are still recovered from surgery. Oden's return is unknown, but Pryzbilla should be back by Thanksgiving.

Blazers coach Nate McMillan has maintained that Oberto's injury will not push the two injured centers to recover too fast. The Blazers will most likely sign somebody as their frontcourt has been greatly depleted.

You may not know it, but Fabricio Oberto has a career shooting percentage of .576. He averaged 5.2 boards in 2007. That was his best year because he played in every single game and also shot a sparkling .608 from the floor. If he played 36 minutes per game, then Ob would have 8.7 rebounds.

Rodney Stuckey PG Detriot Pistons B minus: Stuckey is an underrated player and is the facilitator of the Pistons. At just 24, he averaged a career high 16.6 points per game last year. He has shot at least 80 percent from the line and 40 percent from the court in all of his three seasons. Stuckey is a player ready to break out.

Tony Parker PG San Antonio Spurs B plus: You may not realize it, but Parker is 28 years old and not 30 or above. Last year, everybody talked about Spurs backup point guard George Hill. However, Parker had the higher shooting percentage; average more assists and less turnovers; and averaged more points per game. TP is still the better point guard of the two PGs in SA.

Dwayne Wade SG Miami Heat A plus: To me, Dwayne Wade is the second best player in the league behind his teammate. We all know who I'm talking about. Wade has managed to cut down on his mistakes. Now that he has teammates to fall back on, his assists and supporting numbers should rise. He won't be averaging 27 points per contest anymore, but he will still remain one of the top scorers in the league.

Jrue Holiday PG Philadelphia 76ers B minus: I am a huge fan of Jrue. This guy can shoot, and he performed very well last year despite being the youngest player in the NBA. Now that he has a year of experience under his belt, look for Doug Collins to instill him more into his offense. I expect the minutes, points, and assists to rise this year.

Chris Bosh PF Miami Heat A plus: Wow, two of the big three were randomly selected to be graded today. To tell the truth, it is very easy to pick stars randomly in the NBA. With the NFL grades, stars are few and far between. Anyway, Bosh is one of the premier offensive big men in the league. He averaged a double-double last year, posting career highs in shooting percentage; rebounds; and points. He shot over 50 percent. Those that criticize CB4 are coming out of nowhere. This guy is the second best big man in the league behind Dwight Howard. Bosh is going to be a monster down low, but just don't expect big number statistics.
