NFL Free Agency Hotwire

There is just too much going on for a team spotlight, but I do have a nice free agency post for you all.
Football free agency is in full throat, and the top free agent was already snagged. The Chicago Bears signed All-Pro Defensive End Julius Peppers to a six year deal with a record 42 million of his supposed 91.5 million dollar deal guaranteed. This is a great signing, and is a huge upgrade over The Prince, who is also a free agent. Peppers provides an uncanny mix of size, speed, strength, and athleticism.
The desperate Bears came into terms with running back Chester Taylor. Taylor will receive seven million dollars in guaranteed money. Matt Forte's job is in jeopardy with this signing. I do think they should let Forte start. The Baltimore Ravens got some receiver help and a bargain deal. They were able to snag star wideout Anquan Boldin for a third and fourth round pick. The Ravens also got a fifth round pick from the Cardinals in the deal. Last year, he had 84 catches and 1,024 yards. Boldin is just 29 and he received a new four year, 28 million dollar deal with Baltimore. An interesting fact is that Boldin is the leader of all time in receiving yards per game. He averages 79.2 per outing.
I was overjoyed that the Carolina Panthers released quarterback Jake Delhomme. He was set to make about 12 million per year, and his elbow is dead. It is time for a new era in Carolina. As expected, star linebacker Karlos Dansby signed with the thin Dolphins. He got a five year deal worth 43 million dollars. Dansby was huge last year, recording 109 tackles. He will completely raise the quality of the Dolph defense.
Safety Antrel Rolle will boost a terrible New York Giants secondary. The pro bowler signed a five year 37 million dollar contract to make him the richest safety in the league. Another defensive back found a team. Cornerback Dunta Robinson signed a six year deal with the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcs also resigned corner Brian Williams. This deal makes sense for their weak secondary. The Colts, as expected, resigned a vital leader to their defense. MLB Gary Brackett had 11 tackles in the Super Bowl and signed a five year deal worth 33 million.
I am excited for more signings, but I want to add a baseball note. I want to tip my hat off to Barry Zito. The team was fumed after Fielder's celebration last year, and unrightfully so. It was a walkoff homer, and the Brewers were not showing up anybody. They were just excited about a win in a tough pennant race. Zito was basically counted on to bean Fielder and to settle revenge. He did plunk Fielder, but Zito threw a 70 mile an hour pitch that did not hurt. In fact, Prince Fielder just picked it up and tossed it back to Zito. Prince Fielder and Barry Zito both showed class, even though many others did not. As a matter of fact, Brewer's manager Ken Macha apologized to Giant's manager Bruce Bochy over the winter meetings. Macha did this when he probably knew that his team's actions were completely justified.
