NHL Conference Finals Preview

May 15th 2010 13:37
The Philadelphia Flyers became just the third team in history to come back from a 3-0 deficit and win the series. Simon Gange and his crew will face an eighth seed, while the Sharks at number one will face the Blackhawks who are the west's second seed. There have been some incredible games in this year's playoffs. History has been made. It was made just yesterday.

East

Canadiens and Flyers

Both teams made good upsets at won in epic game seven showdowns. The Habs, however, took down the two best team's in the league with Washington and my folks in Pittsburgh.

Even without star center Jeff Carter, Philly is still one tough team. Chris Pronger, Danny Briere, and Simong Gagne are three of the best players in hockey. Mark Richards is also a very good center.

Canadiens' goaltender Jaroslav Halak has come up huge over former playoff hero Carey Price. Halak has shown why a dominant goaltender, or a goaltender on a huge hot streak is extremely important. He is the MVP of the playoffs so far. Nobody would have thought he would be in it farther than Roberto Luongo. I was one of them.

Scott Gomez isn't the superstar he used to be, but he is still a very talented player. Michael Cammalleri has been Montreal's best offensive player in this playoffs. Tomas Plekanec was their best offensive performer in the regular season.

Halak has been incredibly dominant this postseason. I think the Habs will ride him in a big game 7 series. Canadiens in 7.

West

Sharks and Blackhawks

These are the top two teams left in the playoffs. The winner will win the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Hawks were a lot of people's favorites before the playoffs started. And why not? Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are two of the best players. They are extremely talented, energetic young men.

Marian Hossa is the old guy, but he is an incredible scorer and player. John Madden is a guy at center I like coming off the bench. If he is your third liner, then you have a pretty deep team.

Patrick Sharp is great at the left wing. Brent Seabrook and Brian Campbell are two solid defensmen. Their star defender is top dawg Duncan Keith. He really compliments the big scorers in Toews and Kane well.

Joe Pavelski has been incredibly clutch for the San Jose Sharks in these playoff games. He has turned into a reliable option. Joe Thornton is one of the top five players out there. Patrick Marleau and Dan Boyle are also two of the league's stalwarts.

Dany Heatley is one of the best players in hockey. Ryane Clowe is a great player on the wing. Evgeni Nabokov is a top goaltender in this league. He will really do a lot against the onslaught of Kane, Sharp, Keith, Hossa, and Toews.

I think the Sharks win this one. Sharks in 6.
