NHL Playoff Preview
April 15th 2010 13:39
I am not the biggest hockey guy out there, but I feel the need to write a playoff review for the NHL. Let's start with the East.
Capitals vs. Canadians
Montreal will do some damage, but Alexander Semin and Alexander Ovechkin will get the job done. 4-2 Capitals.
Flyers vs. Devils
The Flyers are unpredictable. This means upset. I seriously think Danny Briere and the rest of the offense can wreck havoc on Martin Brodeur. Sorry Kovalchuk. You won't win. 4-2 Flyers.
Bruins vs. Sabres
This is one of the most debated matchups in the playoffs. However, Zdeno Chara won't be able to help his team top the dominance of Ryan Millar, Derek Roy, and Jason Pominiville. 4-1 Sabres.
Penguins vs. Senators
I know the Sens won the first game against the Pens, but they won't win too many more. However, it will be excruciatingly close. Spezza, Ruutu, Alfredsson, and Elliot will just fall short of Fleury, Crosby, Malkin, Letang, and Guerin. 4-3 Penguins.
West
Avalanche vs. Sharks
This is interesting. The Sharks have been historically horrible in the playoffs, but the Avalanche barely made it in. Statsny can help the push, but the Sharks will ultimately win and end their playoff first-round woes. 4-2 Sharks.
Predators vs. Blackhawks
Another upset. The Blackhawks look like the high favorites, but I think the Predators can out muscle them. Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Marian Hossa will meet their match against Pekka Rinne and Jason Arnott. 4-3 Predators.
Kings vs. Canucks
Another highly anticipated matchup in an exciting, underlooked playoffs. Jonathan Quick and Alexander Frovlov cannot match Roberto Luongo. Expect a huge series from Vancouver's goaltender. Canucks 4-2
Red Wings vs. Coyotes
Everyone likes the experienced and streaking Wings in this. Nope. Rafalski, Franzen, Kronwall, and Datsyuk won't make it past Doan and corporation. 4-3 Coyotes.
