Rumors and News: Be Quiet Commish

May 4th 2010 16:24
John Fox stated that a budge problem was the reason why the Panthers cut and dealt veterans this offseason. Thank goodness somebody else made a dig against the Panthers' management. The problem is that Fox's chances of being resigned next year shrunk thanks to that.

John Salmons has a player option for this free agency. If the Atlanta Hawks cannot resign Joe Johnson, then they could sign Salmons as a replacement. Speaking of free agency, David Stern wants people to focus on the great playoffs for now. Stern also wants players like LeBron to remain on their teams because that is the way it "should" be. Keep your mouth shut. You should have no say in this stuff. We don't need your ego getting in the way. Curt Flood fought for free agency. It is a right for players. We don't need your little sidenotes all the time. My play-by-play guy talks on ESPN games. I don't need you.

Coach Vinny Del Negro was fired thanks to that jerk John Paxson. The former Bulls' guard hated Del Negro, and ran into his office and pushed him because Del Negro broke the minutes limit on Joakim Noah. Paxson is the one that should have been fired.

Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich could be put on the trading block. Both are very good players. The 76ers had Jeff Van Gundy reject their open coaching spot, so they will interview former Mavericks' coach Avery Johnson. Rumor is that you cannot rule out the possibility of Dirk Nowitzki leaving the Mavericks. In other Chicago Bulls news, the Denver Nuggets are looking to make more efforts to acquire Bulls' forward Tyrus Thomas in a trade.

Cliff Lee could be put on the trading block once again. He said he won't talk about an extension during the regular season. Too bad. The Mariners don't want that kind of uncertainty. Lee thinks he is Derek Jeter. No, your just a selfish guy looking for money. We all know that.

Justin Duchscherer got another serious hip injury. This time it was on his left side. He may be out for the rest of the season. Fantasy owners, drop him now. Don't rule out the idea of Prince Fielder going on the trade block. The superstar slugger is 4 and a half years younger than superstar slugger Ryan Howard. Howard is also a first baseman, and he got five years and 125 million. This means Fielder will be paid more, and the Brewers don't have the money to ink him. He will be a free agent after next season. The White Sox could be takers. The Brewers would probably trade him now when his value is at the highest peak. Next year, it will sink because that is one less year he will spend with that new team.

Darren Sharper had a magical year last year with the Super Bowl champs. The Jacksonville Jaguars nearly signed him, but after the long awaited period it was the Saints that re-signed him. Not many teams were after him even though he had nine picks last year. That was because he kept a microfracture knee surgery a secret.

Marc Bulger and Mike Martz are familiar with eachother back in the days with the St. Louis Rams. The Chicago Bears are looking for a new, veteran backup quarterback for Jay Cutler. Bulger is currently at the top of the list.

The Miami Dolphins have serious interest in their former rivals' star linebacker. However, the Fins are waiting for Adalius Thomas's price tag to drop. The Dolphins don't have much money after spending it on superstar linebacker Karlos Dansby, superstar receiver Brandon Marhsall, and stud rookie Jared Odrick.

If this ever happens, just say you heard this here. The San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders are musing the idea of making a stadium in Santa Clara to fit two home teams.

Former special teams superstar Justin Miller signed with the Arizona Cardinals. His regular position is cornerback, but he has no tangible skills there other than his speed.

Just after he signed a deal, the Denver Broncos cut rookie running back Chris Brown. Safety Quinton Teal suited up with the Panthers the last three years. He has a change of scenery and will play with Earl Thomas in the Seattle Seahawks' safety core.

The Washington Redskins cut horrible running back P.J. Daniels. All I can say is that it was about time. Trent Guy impressed Carolina Panthers' coach John Fox with his speed during training camp. The Panthers signed the young receiver.
