Team Review: Jacksonville Jaguars
June 13th 2010 14:55
The "Team Review" section is dedicated to looking at an NFL team's roster and analyzing how talented the team is.
Quarterback: Last year, David Garrard had a mediocre year. He posted 10 INTs to 15 TDs, a 60.9 completion percentage, and an 83.5 QB rating. The lone thing that you can call decent was the 3,597 yards he aired out. Backup Luke McCown is a decent backup. Let me make one thing clear, you really don't want McCown starting. Ask Tampa. Grade: C
Running Back: This is their position of strength. They have one of the three best running backs in the league. Where he ranks is your decision. Plain and simple, Maurice Jones-Drew is a beast. Backup Rashad Jennings has the potential to become good one day. Grade: A
Receivers: Their receiving corps is full of cast-offs. However, Mike Sims-Walker has developed into a star. Kassim Osgood is one of the best returners in the league. There is also a very slim chance that Troy Williamson will finally become a deep threat. He probably won't, but he is another guy. I really think their passing game stinks though. Not even a decent tight end like Mercedes Lewis can really change that. Grade: D-
Offensive Line: I really love this unit. Eugene Monroe, Vince Manuwai, and Kynan Forney are trustworthy. Justin Smiley and Brad Meester are two of the better veteran blockers in this league. Grade: A-
Defensive Line: Derrick Harvey turned out to be a huge bust. Tyson Alualu's prospects look uncertain. He is a big boom-or-bust rookie. The only guy I trust is defensive end Aaron Kampman. He is a proven superstar in this league. Expect a big year from the veteran this year. Grade: C
Linebacker: This is an underrated core. Daryl Smith (107 tackles) and Justin Durant (98 tackles) are good linebackers that go unnoticed. Newly acquired Kirk Morrison is a star. Teddy Lehman provides some backup, but the real deal on the bench is former Colts' star Freddy Keiaho. Freddy was a monster in 08. Grade: A
Defensive Backs: Rashean Mathis and Reggie Nelson are guys you know. They are superstars. However, corner Derek Cox is a solid guy that is underrated. Sean Considine is solid off the bench. Overall: B
This team would be better off in another division. For now, they are a decent team stuck in the basement in the competitive AFC South. Overall: B-
