T-Mac in Detroit?

August 10th 2010 13:29
Tracy McGrady worked out with the Chicago Bulls recently, but the Bulls decided to get less riskier swingman Keith Bogans. T-Mac has garnered interest with the Detroit Pistons, but they only want to offer 1.2 million dollars a year. At 31, McGrady is hobbled and should quickly sign with a team.

With Shaq added, it seems more likely that Brian Scalabrine will move to Europe. I think that's where Scalabrine should be, considering how awful he is. What's crazy is that the New York Knicks want Jared Jeffries back. The 30 year old is in his final deal with the Rockets. The Knicks traded him in the first place in the T-Mac deal.

Jeffries had one of the worst contracts in the NBA, and he will gain 6.8 million this year. Bottom line, this big man stinks. The Knicks have ulterior motives, as usual. They want to deal Eddy Curry and some assets- in these terms "assets" mean crap. Curry has an even worse contract. Let's stop and say hi to Isiah!

Former NBA superstar Larry Johnson will not sign with the Bulls as an assistant coach to recently hired Chicago coach Tom Thibodeau. There is a rumor that Larry Hughes could join the Celtics or Bobcats. I doubt the latter because the Cats already added guard depth by signing undrafted rookie Sherron Collins to a two year deal. That was a smart move.

Anyway, the Celts could really use some guard depth. They would prefer someone younger, but Hughes is a decent catch. Hughes has looked good in workouts, but everyone looks good in workouts. I think Larry could be a quality bench player at best. Which is exactly what the C's are looking for.

The Celtics, Bulls, and Mavericks are interested in free agent guard Delonte West. The Bulls have pretty much dropped out in my opinion. Boston could really use a young, talented guard like Delonte on their bench. The Mavs would be happy with West on their bench as well.

29 year old PG Smush Parker wants to make a return to the NBA. He's better than a few guys I have mentioned in this post like Scalabrine. Hey, that's a good swap. Parker is better than Scal. I got sick of writing that long, grotesque name.

Joakim Noah is about to get a well-deserved extension. The Bulls better get this move done. He's their second best player. The NCAAB Gators from a few years ago have harbored three NBA stars from that team. Noah, Brewer, and Horford. The football team may have the championships, but the basketball program has helped bring out successful pros.

Mike Ilitch wants to own Detroit sports. He already does, but two isn't enough. Ilitch already owns the Tigers and the Red Wings. Now he wants to buy the Pistons.

The Dallas Mavericks want to resign Tim Thomas, and they are close to a low-risk one year deal. He is basically a 33 year old "old guy" that stinks. But hey, one year isn't bad. If he gets injured then he's gone the next year. The bad deals are always 3 or more years, and sometimes two depending on the injury and the player. I don't believe in the PF's ability to stay healthy or his playing ability, so I think this is a nonsense move.

The New Jersey Nets signed PF Sean May. He's a big time bust, but he will contribute off the bench. It is a good move depth-wise. The Minnesota Timberwolves made a great move in signing Anthony Tolliver. He is just 25 and can start for the team. He did a good job with the Warriors last year. It's a two year deal with 4.5 million in guaranteed money. Not a bad haul for either side.

I don't like how Tolliver handled it. Three days before the announced deal, he put a video on YouTube, trying to be like LeBron. Well guess what? LeBron did something stupid enough. What makes it worse is that you are not even close to his abilities. Is "Tooliver" a good nickname? I know it's not appropriate, but what he did probably deserves this nickname.
