The Cleveland Cavaliers wanted a new face at the guard spot. Delonte West and the famous bust Sebastian Telfair were both traded to the Timberwolves for Ramon Sessions and Ryan Hollins. Hollins is the only player in the deal that was not a guard. The Cavs get a second rounder to boot.
The Wolves will waive Delonte West. I love this deal for Cleveland. They got Hollins- who they needed after losing Shaq and Z- and a second round pick is always welcome as a good edge in a 2 for 2 deal.
The Atlanta Hawks signed reserve big man Josh Powell. I think he is a horrible player, but the deal somewhat make sense on the basis that the Hawks have no big man depth.
The Toronto Raptors signed Linas Kleiza to a long deal. The swingman played last year in Greece. That stint made him a valuable player. This move makes a lot of sense for the Raptors, especially after the loss of Hedo Turkoglu.
In other NBA news, Yao Ming may quit. This is sad news for all NBA fans. Yao is one of the good guys of the game, but his foot injury is too bad. All those years of jumping with that tall frame has put too much pressure on his foot. He was so devoted to his country that he would play injured for China. It has taken a toll on his career that can never be repaired. He has no regrets, and neither should anybody else.
The Phoenix Suns released a huge bust of a rookie. Then again, Taylor Griffin was horrible to begin with. It is a great move by the Suns. You should always get rid of guys loafing around in the D-League, and not even being productive there!
